North, South, East, West - What Way Does a Tree Grow Best?
Division:Health Sciences
Category:Intermediate
Region:Central Newfoundland
City:Burin Bay Arm, NL
School:Pearce Jr. H.S.
Abstract:This project required the examination of nine balsam fir trees from four different locations, testing whether tree growth is greater in one direction than the other. To conserve the environment, stumps of previously cut trees were used. My hypothesis was that the most growth would be on the South side. In conclusion, I observed that the preferred direction of growth was on the North side.
