Biographie
My name is Michael Fleet and I'm a Level II student at Holy Spirit High in Manuals, NL. I'm a Level 5 Air Cadet and hold the rank of Flight Sergeant with 905 Viking RCACS in Paradise. Last summer I performed with the Signal Hill Tattoo, a historical animation program portraying the garrison life and duties of His Majesty’s Royal Newfoundland Regiment of Foot in the late 1790’s and earned the 2010 award for “Best New Grenadier Recruit.” I play lead alto saxophone in my school and cadet bands and second saxophone with the CBS Concert Band. I also play guitar, both electric and acoustic, and enjoy writing and recording my own musical compositions. I have a 2nd degree Blackbelt in Taekwondo, participate in biathlon, regularly jog and weight train, and this past fall earned a spot on my high school rugby team. I enjoy travelling and have travelled in Canada and Europe. I just completed a tour of Canadian Battlefields in France, Belgium and Amsterdam in April, giving me the opportunity to combine my love of history with travel! In April, I was presented with a NL Arts and Letters Award for Literary Arts in the Junior Prose Category.

A River Runs Through It – Mitigations to Reduce Flooding in the Urban Environment
Défi:Environnement
Catégorie:Sénior
Région:Eastern Newfoundland
Ville:Paradise, NL
École:Holy Spirit H.S.
Sommaire:The purpose of this project was to test methods to reduce discharge rates in rivers flowing through urbanised areas with the hypothesis being: if mitigation techniques are retrofitted into cities, then discharge intensity will decrease. The results were that within the model, river discharge intensity was reduced by retrofitting my experimental urbanised watershed with retention and detention basins.
