Abstract:Every year, Canadians are injured from slip and fall accidents that occur on ice. Currently, shoes designed to provide more traction on ice are tested using methods that do not simulate human gait. I designed a method to simulate the heel strike, the phase of gait when most slips occur. This was used to test the slipping of shoes on ice.
