Abstract:Geobacter can be easily extracted from riverbeds and the activity can be used for energy production. Geobacter use an unusual electron transfer system that involves the reduction of metals. This reduction can be used, along with other components of a basic electrochemical cell, to create a measurable flow of electrons. By linking many of these cells in series useful energy is produced.
