Lucas - I am Lucas Harvey, a 9th grade student at Neelin high-school and at Crocus plains high-school. I live in Brandon, Manitoba with my mother, father, and younger sister. My hobbies include fencing, computer programming, and electronics. My best subjects are math, science, and English. For my post-secondary education, I intend to attend university in a field of technology, although that decision is still a while away, and nothing is set in stone. The inspiration for my project comes from my general interest in the field of computer programming (although I am self-taught, and this is my first project) I simply wanted to see if I could create such program. in the future I would like to create a function that would allow the user to "log in" so the computer does not constantly need to relearn who it is playing. My best piece of advice if you want to do a project, is to pick a project that you are really interested in, not just because you think you will get good marks.
Chace - We got the idea of the robot from our teacher, who asked us for a final project to create a small robot that could navigate a small maze and put out a candle, we said no, we could do better, and we did. We have both competed multiple times in the Skills Manitoba Competition in which we designed robots that could do a set task, such as play crokinole, or gather PVC pipe pieces and place them on a pyramid.

Abstract:Imagine there is a fire in your home, it could take first responders up to 10 minutes to reach you, in which time the fire runs rampant. Our idea is that if there was a device in the home that could take care of the fire before first responders even get there, it would save hundreds, even thousands of dollars worth of damages.
