Biographies
Dhyey - My name is Dhyey Bhavsar and I am currently a Grade 11 student in the Enhanced Learning Program at the Woodlands Secondary School. Aside from Robotics, DECA, and Aerospace Club at school, I am currently a Flight Seargent at the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, Peel Ambassador for Science Expo, and Outreach Director for Good Food Brampton Youth Council. I have currently applied for the Glider Pilot Scholarship and am nearing completion of my Bronze certification for the Duke of Edinburgh award. I have always wanted to make a difference in the world. Water scarcity and lack of electricity were two major challenges I wished to overcome. By creating a low-cost, low maintenance, solution to both, I was able to solve a problem which not only affected millions around the world but my own relatives back home. In the future, I plan on becoming an Aerospace or Mechatronics Engineer.
Ahmad - My name is Ahmad Almawi, and I am a grade eleven student at the Woodlands Secondary School attending the science fair for the first time. Other than the science fair, I am a member of my schools robotics club, biology club, play tuba for senior band, and play trombone for jazz band. Outside of school activities, I spend my time playing piano, volunteering, and building robots. Though I haven't quite decided yet, I think I will be aiming to go into biomedical engineering, as it nicely combines my passion for biology and robotics/engineering.

VOLTurus: Power Generation and Water Desalination
Challenge:Energy
Category:Senior
Region:Peel
City:Mississauga, ON
School:The Woodlands School
Abstract:VOLTurus is a two-in-one power generation and water desalination system. It utilizes the power of ocean waves and currents to oscillate a floating disk attached by six pistons. As they pass, the waves move the floating disk up and down, actuating the pistons. This force pumps water through a turbine to generate electricity and is later passed through an innovative water desalination process.
