Biographie
My name is Mariem Oloroso and I am a grade 11 student at High Level Public School in northern Alberta. I am a member of my school's student council, choir, yearbook committee, and, of course, science fair team. I love to sing and explore different genres of music and am always attempting to teach myself how to play the guitar. I have always loved to read and am very interested in post-apocalyptic/dystopian literature. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family and traveling. I hope to one day get involved in clean water and sanitation projects around the world and plan on continuing my interest in science by pursuing a career in obstetrics. This is my second Canada Wide Science Fair and I am very excited to be a part of it once again.

Sommaire:This project focused on the processes of the BioSand Filter, which is an inexpensive and natural water filtration system, and its utilization of slow sand filtration. Comparisons were also made between other water purifying systems. It was found that slow sand filtration is what allows the BioSand Filter to be so effective in providing clean, safe drinking water to thousands of people around the world.
