| My name is Adrain Howie, I'm 18 years old and I live in Halifax Nova Scotia. I'm in grade 12 at Citadel High. I have lived in Halifax most of my life except for grades 5 and 6, when I lived in Ottawa. My favorite sports are tennis and football. I play and coach tennis year round, and was on the provincial champion high school football team. I am active in my community and in my church. Over the last year i have formed a group called "Youth Science and Technology Mentors" and now help run develop programs throughout the province. I did the regional science fair for six years now, and this is the fifth time going to nationals. |

Searching for Neuroprotectants in Natural Compound

Several extracts tested in a stroke model showed neuroprotection. To better understand mode of action a new zebrafish model was developed. Results included one extract that reduced stroke damage by 40%. This extracts has great potential and merits further investigation. |
