My name is Sarah Flaherty. This is my first time entering my regional Fair and I am excited to be continuing on to CWSF. I am a twin and I have identical twin younger brothers, which inspired me to investigate twins in my project. I am in grade 8 at Ryerson Middle School, in Hamilton, Ontario, where I am in French Immersion. I maintain high grades and enjoy all my classes. I am also a representative for my class in our student council and I started a school newspaper in grade seven, which I continue to participate in as a sports writer and editor. I play flute in our concert band and trombone in our jazz band, and I further involve myself in school sports, which vary by season. Outside of school I play water polo and I ski race competitively in New York state, where I participated in the State Championships for the past two years. I also enjoy playing with my rat, who is a female Irish Berkshire named Luna, and baking (Luna loves banana bread). I am extremely excited to be participating in CWSF and I hope to return in future years. |
| Sarah Flaherty The Twin Connection
Division: | Internationale | Catégorie: | Junior | Région: | Bay Area | Ville: | Hamilton, ON | École: | Ryerson E.S. | Sommaire: | This project studied the relationship between the development of social independence and the zygocity and gender concordance of a set of twins. A survey was sent to twins by email. Gender concordant twins were found to develop social independence later and to a lesser degree than gender disconcordant twins. Zygocity did not have a significant effect on the development of social independence. |
