Sommaire:This project examined the effectiveness of adding wood shavings to a fire based on traditional knowledge of Shύhtaot’ine Dene of the Sahtu, Northwest Territories. Fire components were weighed; wood shavings were added to one fire. Thermometers were set on packed snow at measured distances. The fire containing wood shavings was found to burn hotter at an accelerated rate.
