My name is Meera and I am a student at Harry J. Clarke Destinations. Destinations is a special academic program for "enriched" learning. I volunteer with swim classes and I am certified in emergency first aid and CPR B. I also swim and speed-skate competitively and I am hoping to increase my level of skill in both areas. I got the idea for my project from a radio program on CBC. It was basically about a farmer who decided he would try to use clovers as a natural fertilizer. Although the idea came from this source, I did create my own method/procedure of conducting the experiment. For any students planning on doing a project in the future, I would suggest, be as original as possible with your idea. Your project will have more of an impact on the people who view your project if they haven't seen anything like it before, and it's an innovative idea. Don't find your project online. Look at current issues and build up a project from there. For the future, I plan on continuing my investigations with nitrogen-fixation, but look more into the environmental impact of chemical fertilizers and work to find better natural alternatives. |

Clarke P.S. | Sommaire: | Determining if clovers (and their nitrogen fixing techniques) can act as a viable, and promising, natural alternative to chemical fertilizers because some chemicals fertilizers have the ability to strip soil of its nutrients, seep through the ground and contaminate water, and if they are misused they can cause more harm than good. |
