I am in Grade 8 at Gilbert Paterson Middle School. I am involved in the Grade 8 Choir, Handbell Ensemble, our school productions of Annie, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and The Music Man and a leadership elective which helps organize and stage school events. I volunteer at the Lethbridge animal shelter and assisted with a TEDx conference. My hobbies include dance, painting, reading, and acting. My plans for post-secondary education are to attend UCLA majoring in acting. My achievements and notable experiences include placing in the top 3 in the Lethbridge Regional Spelling Bee, being the southern Alberta representative at the Historical Society of Alberta’s Yearly Conference, receiving the Overall Average Award for Grade 6 English, and being an extra in the Lifetime movie The 19th Wife. The inspiration for my project resulted from a disagreement with my mother over whether listening to music while studying affected your recall of information. My plan for further research is to see how other types of music would affect participant’s recall. My advice for students planning on starting a project is to choose a subject that interests you, if you don’t enjoy what you’re researching; you won’t enjoy doing your project. |
