Josie - I am a grade 10 student at Milestone High School. I have attended to Milestone for my entire life. I have lived outside of Milestone on a farm my whole life as well, and have only recently sold my herd of Maine- Anjou cattle. I now frequently help a local bison rancher. After high school I would like to attend university to study my Degree in Agriculture: Animal Science. For our project we got the inspiration from our parents and the farm. It appealed to us because we can relate to the project through cattle and bison. In the future we would like to connect a remote to our timer. We would also like to connect the pump to a scale so the scale would send the weight to the pump and the pump would automatically pump the correct amount of ivermectin to the appropiate animal. The advice I would give to other students is to be passoinate about your project. If you want to succeed in the project and go far with it then you will. It will cause you to work harder towards your goal. | Emma - My name is Emma Nicholas I'm in grade 9 and go to Milestone High School. I have lived on a cattle ranch my entire life, and have purebred Hereford and Gelbvieh cattle. I have been in the 4-H beef club for 9 years. I play volleyball with and outside of the school, I also play badminton and participate in track. When I graduate from High School, I plan to attend the Universtiy of Saskatchewan and receive a Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Agriculture. We got the inspiration for our project from living on a farm and working with cattle and bison. We would like to expand our project and make it so you can have the animal step on the scale and have a computer calculate the exact dosage required for that animal. This would be precise and accurate. If I had to give other students advice, I would say be passionate about your project and be confident in your work. |
