| My name is Victoria Platzer. I am in 8th grade and I am 14. I love to challenge myself. I speak both French and English. I hope to travel the world and learn different languages and cultures. I am currently in the school band and I have been tap dancing since I was 3 I enjoy horseback riding and am starting to volunteer for the ride for disabled in my home town. I was inspired to do my project on invasive plants and hay after speaking to someone who runs tours in the outback and saw invasive plants growing once he introduced hay to the area. My project is important to native plants, animals, habitats and humans. Last year I experienced my first CWSF in Lethbridge, Alberta. I loved the experience and I am excited to be going again this year. I loved meeting new people and learning about their love for science. I hope to be able to have a similar time again this year. |

I collected hay samples from 22 farms from around the Fort St. John area. I sifted through the hay looking for seeds. I took photos of the 5568 potential seeds under the microscope and then planted them. 628 of the total potential seeds were identified as invasive. |
