My name is Kerry Yang, and I am a grade 8 student at Lo Ellen Park Secondary School, Sudbury, Ontario. I enjoy academics and am getting involved with the community by participating in various events. Recently, I was a part of the Math, Science and Technology Olympics and won first place with my team. Aside from an academic nerd, I am a passionate piano player, artist and figure skater. I’ve received a National Piano Excellence Award for the highest piano mark in my grade level in London, Ontario. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing and drawing. After my secondary education, I would like to attend a prestigious university to pursue a career in the surgical field. |
| Kerry Yang Fighting Heavy Metals-Induced Antibiotic Resistance: Dandelion Is the Key
Défi: | Santé | Catégorie: | Junior | Région: | Sudbury | Ville: | Sudbury, ON | École: | Lo-Ellen Park S.S. | Sommaire: | Antibiotic resistance is an increasingly growing problem to human health that is partially attributed to heavy metals. My study examined the beneficial role of dandelion extracts on heavy metal-induced antibiotic resistance in bacteria. This study suggests low doses of heavy metals (nickel, cadmium, and arsenic) can induce antibiotic resistance and dandelion root extracts could be used to help reverse bacterial resistance to antibiotics. |
