Biography
My name is Alec Busby and I am an eleventh grader hailing from the northwestern village of Hazelton, British Columbia. I am part of the Cross country running team at said school, and participate in a fun badminton club once a week. I enjoy reading, being witty and generally just conversing in an intellegent manner. Our family has a team of Alaskan Husky sled dogs and I enjoy dogsledding in the winter, and caring for them in the summer. I would like to attend the University of Northern British Columbia after I graduate, and pursue a career in business.

Biodiesel, The Fuel of The Future?
Challenge:Energy
Category:Senior
Region:Pacific Northwest
City:Hazelton, BC
School:Hazelton Secondary
Abstract:The purpose of this experiment was to determine the energy content of biodiesel made out of four different types of feedstocks through the process of base catalyzed transesterification. The feedstocks tested were olive oil, canola oil, bacon grease and waste vegetable oil. The purpose of investigating this is to determine whether low quality, used oils can create biodiesel of equal quality to new oils.
