| I am actively involved in VEX robotics and am a radio controlled model airplane enthusiast. This year my robotics team, Lone Wolf Robotics was the Ontario provincial champion and qualified to the VEX Worlds Championship where we made it to the semifinals of the math division. I plan on attending Waterloo in the fall for mechatronics honours engineering. I have been awarded over 15 awards in VEX robotics this season alone. I run a professional real estate photography business, Bariciak Photography in Sault Ste. Marie. I got the inspiration for my project from several other studies conducted testing the antimicrobial effects of essential oils. I had been recently introduced to essential oils by my mother and was interested in conducting a study with them that possessed global significance. I plan to conduct further investigations focused around robotics and autonomous systems. My advice to other students thinking about doing a project is that if you are passionate about it, then do it. I entered the science fair this year as it was a mandatory component of my IB diploma yet I am now wishing I had known about it earlier as it is certainly something that interests me. |

Cinnamon Essential Oils - Natural Antibiotics

Filter paper discs impregnated with diluted Cinnamomum zeylanicum bark and leaf essential oils were placed on the streaked plates. The zone of inhibition around each disc was measured following a period of incubation and the data subjected to statistical tests to compare the antimicrobial activity of the oils. |
