My name is Emily Goodson, and I am a grade 8 student who attends Cookstown Central Public School, and has attended the Simcoe County Regional Science and Technology Fair since I was a grade 4 student, and first became eligible. My science fair project this year, ‘Filtration Of Smog’ focuses on reducing our world’s carbon footprint as well as our impact on the natural world by collecting all output from vehicles and factories using a filter of my own design. I was originally inspired to enter this years science fair by her drive, and passion to make a difference. I have always had an environmental mindset, and thus have aimed my science fair project in that field. To forward my work, I would like to continue testing my filter on various airborne substances found in smog. I would suggest to other students interested in participating in a local science fair, that even if you feel unsure of something, pursue your dreams, and don’t give up, if you make a mistake, remember, making mistakes is how we learn and grow. |

The designed technology was tested, and proven to be effective on numerous substances. This innovation can be extremely useful for reducing climate change and our carbon footprint, and can be applied to exhaust pipes on automobiles and smokestacks on factories. |
