Abstract:Dimeric Alkaloids produced in the Madagascar Periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus) continue to be one of the key components of a variety of different chemotherapy regimes, effectively fighting cancerous diseases like leukemia and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. In this experiment it is shown that hypothesis about the production of secondary metabolites necessary for the synthesis of dimeric alkaloids may not stand correct for all varieties of Catharanthus roseus.
