| I was born and raised in Fort St. John, BC and I am a grade 12 student at North Peace Senior Secondary. Recently, I was awarded Top Academic Student for my grade as well as top math, science, french and accounting student. I have been awarded the BC Hydro, Peace Cooperative, BC Innovation, SCWIST, Roy Northern Environmental and BCIC Young Innovators scholarship awards at my regional science fair level. I attended CWSF 2008, 2009, and 2011 where I have immensely enjoyed my experiences. I have enjoyed competing and performing Irish dance for nearly 11 years and continue to pursue this sport. My other hobbies include outdoor activities such as river boating, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. I actively volunteer through the Reading Buddies program, my school's student advisory team and other community events. This spring, I travelled to Ghana with other students from my school to help build and assist an orphanage. The opportunity not only allowed me to experience the culture and help the community, but to also grow as a person. Next year, I will be attending university to study biology and health sciences with the goal of becoming a medical doctor. |

Various factors including nutrient loading and human activity were examined as to what effect they have on the ecology of the lake and subsequently the algal blooms. Additionally, the effects the algae have on the lake and its human and wildlife users were examined. |
