David - My name is David Moore. I am currently enrolled in Francis Libermann Catholic High School as a grade nine gifted student. I do a few after school activities which include piano and taekwondo. I am in grade 5 for piano and I am a third degree black belt in taekwondo. I am currently in a special MST program which is for advanced students in math, science and techology. This is the second year for me to be attending Canada Wide Science Fair, representing Toronto. Last year was a great experience and I hope that this year will be the same, if not better. I wish to persue the career of a chemist when I am older. | Thomas - Thomas Alvares is a grade 9 student who lives in the great city of Toronto. He has a number of interests and hobbies, some of which include playing guitar, chess, piano, and tennis. Along with these, he is also interested in photography. Thomas is a member of his local tennis club. He actively participates in piano competitions and has many awards to his credit. He is enrolled in a MST (math, science, technology) program in high school, where he pursues his interests in all three subjects. He is very interested in science and plans to have a career within the field of it. Thomas also loves travelling and experiencing different cuisines and cultures. |

By running our samples through High Performance Liquid Chromatography and analyzing the chromatograms for heterocyclic amines, we found that most marinades tested decreased the amount of carcinogens, and that organic meat was more carcinogenic than non-organic meat. |
