Biography
Hello, I’m Correne Minty. I’m in grade eleven from Olds High School in Alberta. I enjoy reading, writing, ski coaching, flying, and playing the piano. I love to travel and I’ve been to many interesting places across the world, my favourite being Austria. I’ve always been around gas sensing technology, but a good part of my interest in the field came from a measuring technology fair in Nürnburg, Germany, which I visited last year in 2016. I wish to continue furthering my education in university, ideally in a French-speaking part of the country, or even out of the country, as I’m bilingual and would like to continue practising as long as I can. I've never been to Regina or CWSF and I’m super excited to attend this year!

Hydrogen Sulphide Sensing
Challenge:Innovation
Category:Senior
Region:Central Alberta
City:Didsbury, AB
School:Olds Junior Senior High School
Abstract:The purpose of this project was to develop a gas sensor capable of detecting hydrogen sulphide, an extremely poisonous substance present in many industries. The sensor was based off the design of a typical solid state semiconductor sensor, however, it is simpler and comparatively inexpensive to create. Nonetheless, testing has shown the sensor to be just as effective as a more sophisticated, commercially available design.
