Biography
My name is Levi Burtt. I am in grade 7 (French Immersion) at Superior Middle School, Bathurst, New Brunswick. Science and Physical Education are my favorite subjects in school. I play competitive hockey, and I am on my school's varsity soccer and volleyball teams. I have represented my school at oratorical and science fair competitions at the provincial level. It is my first time at the Canadian National Science Fair. Some of my other interests include playing the guitar, mountain biking and reading biographies.

Fill 'er Up: Can Ethanol be Made Cost Effectively at Home?

Abstract:An experiment was conducted to determine whether ethanol could be produced at home for a lower cost than purchasing gasoline. Ethanol was produced by fermentation and distillation. The costing was done for two different variants as a sugar source: purchased raw sugar and decaying fruit. Ethanol produced from the raw sugar cost $ 1.38 /L, the decaying fruit cost $ 0.32 /L.
