Biography
Hi. My name is Cameron McMillian. I am from a farm just outside a small town in Saskatchewan. I live with my mother, father, and two brothers. I enjoy playing hockey and farming. My greatest achievement has been winning Best of the Fair (First Place) at our Regional Science Fair. I got the inspiration for my project after learning about the Lac-Megantic explosion. I decided to redesign the DOT111, which was the railway car used to transport the crude oil during the explosion. I plan to present my new design, the Trainium, to the Transportation Safety Board of Canada. I will recommend the Trainium to them for transporting crude oil through North America, because my new design is much safer than the current model being used. My advice to other students is to select a project that they are passionate about and to start working on it early. I have been working on my idea for a year. I am interested in pursuing a career as a mechanical engineer or as a geologist with an oil and gas company.

Abstract:The TRAINIUM is a rail tank car designed to replace the DOT 111 rail tank car currently used in the rail transportation industry. Based upon its innovative design, I have determined that the TRAINIUM is a safer mean for the railway industry to transport crude oil.
