Biographie
My name is Laney Beaulieu and I am a grade 12 student who attends Deninu School. Deninu is stationed in Fort Resolution, NT and has a population of roughly 500 people. I was inspired to do this project because I wanted to effect positive change in my community by attempting to circumvent alcoholism, which is currently a major problem. After I complete my post-secondary education I hope to continue researching cures for substance dependence. I would advise other students who are thinking about doing a Science Fair project to study something they are passionate about because that will make the experience extremely rewarding.

The risk factors that were deemed significant fit into the themes of mental illness, residential school experience, early life events, and demographic features. Specifically, having a history of ADHD, perceived isolation, and childhood economic insecurity were linked to alcoholism.
