| In the summer I go out on the boat with my dad and a bunch of friends and plant eelgrass. I stay on the boat and work as surface tender this inspired me to do this project because I wanted to learn more about eelgrass and how to plant it so I could help to. My family and I are all scuba divers so we spend a lot of our time on the water and I love every minute of it. I love to play soccer and be outside rain or shine ( it rains a lot in Port McNeill). I love to read and the library is my favorite room in school. I am in pathfinders and have been awarded the Lady Baden Powell Award and am currently working toward my Canada cross I like working to help my community. To further investigate I plan to mark some eelgrass stalks and measure them every few weeks to see how much they grow. I would advise anyone who wants to do a science fair project not to wait till the last day before the deadline to start it, science fair projects may take time but they are worth it. |

This studied proved that eelgrass in deeper water is approximately four centimeters longer than in the shallow water in the Port McNeill area. Shallow eelgrass could display shorter growth because of wave activity, shallow water heating, animals foraging and storm energy could prevent eelgrass in the shallows to grow longer than the eelgrass in deeper water. |
