My name is George Sallerina and I live in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut. My community is on King William Island and we have just over 1000 people. Because we are past the Arctic Circle, there are no trees. I live in a fly in community and someday I hope to be a pilot. I have always wanted to be a pilot and take trips with my family to Orlando for flying lessons. I have logged 7 official minutes in my aviators log. I am a Nunavut beneficiary which means that I am Inuit. I love hunting with my Dad and camping with my family. My favorite sport is soccer and I have been on our school team for the past 3 years. My favorite subject is Math and I work hard so that I can go to college and learn how to be a commercial pilot. I am actively involved in drum dancing, a traditional Inuit performance and am part of a group that will be travelling to Norway to perform in September. We will be able to dance on the Gjoa ship; that Amundsen stayed in Gjoa Haven with and our community is named after. I love my life. |
