Currently enrolled at Thom Collegiate in Regina, Saskatchewan where I have lived all my life, I am currently enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and will finish high school studies in May 2007. During my high school years I have been involved in many extra curricular activities, including playing the flute in the school band, singing in the school choir, acting as a grade 9 mentor and a peer tutor, and devoting many long hours to our school's athletic trainer program. In the fall I will be attending the University of Ottawa, where I have been admitted to the faculty of Social Sciences to study Criminology as part of the French Immersion program. My long term goals include obtaining a degree in behavioral neuroscience, which when combined with my ciminology studies will hopefully allow me to contribute to advances in crime prevention and criminal rehabilitation. |
| Jennifer Dorr CO2 at the Drive-Through
Division: | Engineering & Computing Sciences / Automotive | Category: | Senior | Region: | Regina | City: | Regina, SK | School: | Thom Collegiate | Abstract: | The purpose of this experiment was to determine the mass of carbon dioxide emitted by a single car idling in a fast food drive-through. By measuring the pH change of 1L of water after the car idled for 5 minutes, and assuming that carbonic acid was produced, the mass of carbon dioxide was calculated. It was found that the mass was small but still measurable. |
