Abigael - My name is Abigael Schonewille. I am 16 years old, and attend Brockville Collegiate Institute in Brockville Onatrio as a grade 10 student. In my spare time, I enjoy speed skating, canoeing, hiking, and swimming. A hobby I have is identifying rocks and minerals, as well as, reading up on their composition and their properities. In school, I enjoy the subjects of math and science. Music exercises my mind in a fun way; I play piano, keyboard percussion, other intruments and I am an alto singer in our school and community choir. When I go to university, I would like to either pursue studies in math, life sciences, sciences or geology. For the past few years, I've taken pride in celebrating Rememberance day by entering poems, essays and posters to our Local legion and am proud to say that one of my posters won second place in all of Canada. I love scuba diving and traveling. On one of my family's travels to the grand canyon I got inspiration to repurpose grey water, its energy specifically. Others students that want to do a project should know that it is a lot of work but even more fun. Good luck! | Bryony - Hi my name is Bryony Schonewille. I am in grade 10 at Brockville Collegiate Institute in Brockville Ontario. Some interests of mine are reading, education and sports. Different sports that I enjoy include wakeboarding, waterskiing, skiing, speedskating, kayaking, javelin, and hurdles. I love the outdoors and spending time with my family. Also I enjoy travelling with family to Europe. I volunteer at our local YMCA and am hoping to get a job there instructing swim lessons. I plan to go to university to become an engineer. My twin and I got the inspiration for our project when we hiked the Grand Canyon 2 years ago. While visiting, we noticed they had to find ways to conserve water because of the arid climate. We wanted to apply the same principal of conserving resources and apply it to energy. Using the concept of using heated greywater to begin the heating process of the cold water, we hoped to see a noticeable savings of energy that could be applied to normal life. In continuation of this project, it would be nice to investigate the different designs of heat exchangers and how they could best be implemented into an established society. |

Défi: | Énergie | Catégorie: | Intermédiaire | Région: | Rideau-St. Lawrence | Ville: | Athens, ON | École: | Brockville Collegiate Institute | Sommaire: | We decided to discover how the energy from heated grey water could repurposed to save costs on energy. After producing substantial results with our homemade tank, we decided to find the real life applications that would be directly produced in home circumstances. By using real price points we determined payback time, savings, and other useful information. |
