Last year I attended the 2014 Canada-Wide Science Fair for a paediatric spine board to replace the current method of weight estimation called the Broselow Tape. While there I received lots of constructive criticism from judges that I decided to use to bring my invention from a prototype to a patentable form. I plan on becoming a doctor and also doing medical research. My favourite things to do are: Watching The Simpsons and Doctor Who, playing on my iPad, and reading books by Richard Dawkins, J.K. Rowling, and Douglas Adams. I play the violin and the guitar, and have finished my advanced rudiments in music theory. I am currently advanced 1 grade in math, english, and history at my school. Some advice for future people doing science fair is this: Don’t panic, have fun, and remember that you are 100% unique, just like everyone else. |
| Ethan Milne A Novel Paediatric Spine Board
Défi: | Innovation | Catégorie: | Sénior | Région: | Avon Maitland-Huron Perth | Ville: | Goderich, ON | École: | Goderich District Collegiate Institute | Sommaire: | I created and designed a novel paediatric spine board to accurately weigh critically ill or injured children. The Ped-E-Board was tested in the children's emergency department at McMaster University. It was found to be a more accurate method of weight assessment than the current gold standard named the Broselow Tape. |
