Challenge: | Resources | Category: | Senior | Region: | Northern Saskatchewan | City: | La Ronge, SK | School: | Churchill Composite H.S. | Abstract: | I studied the tree rings of white and black spruce to determine how fast those trees grow at different ages. I found that both species almost increase their growth rate until the end of their natural life spans. My findings support the selective logging of only the oldest trees in our forests, a practice that will reduce industry costs and maintain a healthy ecosystem. |
