Ted is an Honours student and an avid fly fisherman, who enjoys living on a rural property on the Niagara Escarpment in ski country in Ontario. As a member of the Georgian Bay Titans Rugby Club he has most recently been playing with the U14 Team as well as playing 7’s with the U15 Team. His passion is for railways and he has taken many trips by train across Canada. In 2011-2012 Ted’s class had Outdoor Education every Monday in all weather for a year. Ted has also had a large organic vegetable garden on his farm, and ran a seasonal roadside business for a few years selling vegetables. He also grew the largest giant pumpkin for 18/under at the Great Northern Exhibition in the fall of 2010. He has helped at a nearby “Sugar Shack” making Maple Syrup in the spring. Ted also enjoys acting in musical theatre. He has played “Jake the Peg” in a Summer Vaudeville Theatre Camp in Meaford and he has also played John Burke in Titanic, both in 2012. He plays the Tenor and Baritone Saxophone in the Concert Band and in a local Band Club. Ted plans to pursue Civil Engineering. |

The purpose was to determine if removing phosphorous from water with inexpensive, commonly available fish filters was possible. It was concluded after Simulated Dam and Urban Environment testing, among other tests, that the highest performing filter removed up to 66.6% of phosphorous from polluted water with an activated carbon filter. |
