Biography
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world. ~ Mahatma Gandhi" is the quote, that I base my everyday actions upon. I always believe that if I want to see a change in our world, I must stand up and help build it. As we all know, energy is something that we, as humans, will always need for our future generations. Although, it is quite concerning that our needs may not be met in the future due to how we treat the present. This is why I am taking on the challenge to try to capture and convert kinetic energy produced by road traffic into usable electricity. As for myself, I am a creative student participating in science fair since grade 5. I love playing basketball with my twin brother, and I take part in several extracurricular activities, including air cadets and dance. It’s an honor to be selected as a finalist this year, for the first time, in CWSF and I hope to bring my ideas forward in the future! ~ Maggie, Grade 8, Calgary Science School

Abstract:Rapid industrialization has been one of the major contributors to global warming, which has led many countries supporting green energy production by exploring various ways to create alternative energy. Road traffic is one such opportunity of untapped energy source that is ever increasing, and I have taken this thought forward in an attempt to capture and harvest road traffic's motion energy into electricity.
