I am a grade 8 student at St. Joseph School in Nelson, BC. Nelson is situated at the base of the Selkirk Mountains on Kootenay Lake. It is a cool mountain town with amazing skiing and mountain biking. I have played hockey for six years and really love playing as a goalie - we had a great season this year! I play lacrosse and sadly, I am missing our first tournament because of the science fair BUT I chose the science fair because it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I also enjoy playing tennis and basketball. My project was inspired by a drive in the rain and realizing that most lines were disappearing in our area creating a very unsafe situation for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. I am determined to rectify the problem of the disappearing highway and cycling lines and pedestrian crossing lines so that everyone can be safer. The RCMP, the general public, the Vancouver City Police and the Nelson City Police share my concerns and I plan on continuing my study so that we can all be safer. |
