My name is Delilah Qupaa Issaluk and I live in Chesterfield Inlet, Nunavut on the west coast of Hudson Bay in the Arctic. My favourite season is spring (snow is still on the ground, but it is only -15C – warm for Inuit), because I love to be outside hunting and fishing. This is actually the season that drew my inspiration for my project, last year my mother and I didn’t wear sunglasses for the local fishing derby (the ice was still over 6 feet thick) and we experienced snow blindness. I wanted to find out if Inuit snow googles are better than expensive sunglasses for protecting your eyes in the spring. Yes, Inuit snow googles are better at blocking out harmful sunlight to your eyes. I am very proud of my Inuit heritage and how Inuit survived in the past. |

I wanted to determine if modern expensive sunglasses are better at blocking sunlight than traditional Inuit technology. The results will surprise you, come over and try on a pair of Inuit goggles. |
