| My name is Alexandra Ficht and I am a grade 12 student at St. John's Kilmarnock School. I have participated in science fair at my local school since I was in grade 5; however, this is my first CWSF. At my regional science fair, I was awarded with a Gold Medallion, Best in Division (biotechnology), Award of Merit, Google Young Researchers Award and an Award of Excellence. Next year I plan to attend university to study biochemistry and molecular genetics and then pursue a career in the medical field (research doctor). I received the inspiration for my project from my chemistry teacher, who introduced me to one of his graduate professors at the University of Guelph. After CWSF, I plan to continue research at the University of Guelph under the supervision of Dr. Duane Falk, and perhaps publish a paper with him. |

A Study of the Leaf Striping in Barley
