Everyone in our school up to grade 10 is required to do a science fair project. Out of the 25-30 projects that were there I was nominated to go on to our regional science fair the following week. I picked my project because we were learning about light radiation and the electromagnetic spectrum in our science class. In further investigation my plans were to test different types of light bulbs (LED & Fluorescent Tubes) and then more used lights (I only tested brand new lights). Some advice for other students is to not wait till the last minute to do your final work on your project. My activities in and out of school include volleyball, basketball, badminton, track and field, football, hockey, baseball and piano lessons. I am excited to to be attending CWSF for the first time and am hoping to attend for many years to come. |
| Jacob Mamer Do Light Bulbs Have A Dark Side
Challenge: | Energy | Category: | Junior | Region: | Northwest Saskatchewan | City: | Wilkie, SK | School: | McLurg High School | Abstract: | This year a law was passed that incandescent light bulbs can no longer be manufactured or imported into Canada. So from that law I decided to investigate and then test to see how much UV radiation the new CFL type bulbs give off compared to the traditional incandescent bulb. |
