| My name is Ayemen Faridi and I am a grade 11 student attending J. Clarke Richardson in Ajax, Ontario. As a kid, I always had a natural interest to find the “why” in the world around me. It was through my childhood curiosity that I grew a strong passion for science. Years later, I started to participate in science competitions for fun. I started to become very fascinated by the science of the brain and was inspired to do my project on the effects of the intensity and pitch of white noise on human concentration. Besides science, I also have a love for the world of business. I am a part of DECA, a worldwide business club and am my school’s secretary. I am an honour roll student and have been awarded for my academic achievements. Although learning is fun and exciting, I find that there is nothing more rewarding than volunteering in my community. In my free time, I volunteer with the hospital where I get to meet new people and learn more than ever. In the future I plan to pursue a career in medicine where I can continue to fulfill my drive for answering the “why”. |

Mastermind: The Effect of White Noise on Cognitive Concentration in Females

Clarke Richardson C.I. | | Abstract: | The purpose of my project, Mastermind, was to investigate the relationship between white noise and cognitive concentration by conducting three short-term memory tests in females of varyious age groups to determine whether their cognitive concentration was affected. From my tests, I concluded that that females between 10-13 years were most positively effected after exposure to white noise with lesser effects on older age groups. |
