Biography
I am Trevor Meek from Sudbury, Ontario. I am a grade 8 student at Carl A Nesbitt Public School, where I am the current student council Prime Minister. I enjoy playing piano, as well as playing and refereeing hockey. I also love flying and farming with my dad. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. My project idea came while I was scraping the car windshield after a night of freezing rain. I thought there must be an easier way to clear away the ice. I researched the current market to look for something to clear the ice and was unable to find something that was effective. I am in the process of getting a patent on my design. In the future, I would like to explore commercial opportunities with auto manufacturers and use my system to heat other substances to aid in other industries. The advice I would give to future participants would be to find a topic that you are passionate about and can relate to. This makes the work a little more exciting.

Challenge:Innovation
Category:Junior
Region:Sudbury
City:Sudbury, ON
School:Carl A. Nesbitt P.S.
Abstract:I developed a wireless, Bluetooth system to keep your car wipers and windshield ice-free. My innovation addresses the fire risk issues associated with always-on technology, through a time-out feature. My system is safer, more energy efficient and can be installed on any vehicle. The performance of this system has been validated in continuous freezing rain conditions.
