I am a grade 9 student at Fellowes High School in Pembroke, Ontario. I love all subjects in school but particularly math and science. I am involved in many school activities such as sports teams, Key Club, and Free the Children Club. This year I have been a member of the cross-country, figure skating, badminton, and track team. For Key Club I have been elected to be treasurer for the 2015-2016 year. Outside of school, my hobbies include swimming, figure skating, ballet, and playing the piano. I have been playing the piano for 9 years. In grade 8 I was fascinated when I attended a microbiology course at Carleton University, which gave me the idea of applying what I have learned in the course into my project. I have been interested in microbiology since then. My advice for other students thinking about doing a project is to do it on a topic that truly interests you! In the future, I would like to pursue a career in the medical field. |

Défi: | Santé | Catégorie: | Intermédiaire | Région: | Renfrew County | Ville: | Pembroke, ON | École: | Fellowes High School | Sommaire: | This experiment investigates whether pharmaceutical antibiotics or natural antibiotics are more effective at inhibiting bacteria. Escherichia Coli and bacteria from various objects were used to test the broad antibacterial spectrum all the antibiotics supposedly had. Sensitivity disks containing the antibiotic was applied to agar surfaces that were inoculated with bacteria. The effectiveness of the antibiotic was determined by the diameter of the zone of inhibition. |
