Biographie
My name is Christian Besoiu and I am grade 8 student at the Calgary Science School. In my school, we do a lot of inquiry based learning which sparks student's curiosity in different subject areas. I am interested in energy solutions for our future, which is what inspired me to do a science fair project on biodiesel. From a young age I developed a passion for cars. In my free time, I like to learn about new technologies being implemented in cars. This year I participated in the Calgary Youth Science Fair (CYSF) and my project won a gold medal, the Devon Canada Top Junior Award and a Travel Award to the CWSF 2012. I like to play a variety of sports. I am bronze star swimmer, an experienced skier and now I am playing volleyball at the Volleydome Club in Calgary. This is my first year attending Canada Wide Science Fair and I am looking forward to meeting amazing young scientists. Since I am only in grade 8, I have not decided my future career path. Science Fair is a great way for me to show my enthusiasm for future energy solutions and for me to learn new things.

Sommaire:Biodiesel is a renewable fuel that, if it swept across the world as our main source of energy, it could change the face of our planet for the better. We need to know which oil (vegetable or animal) is best for making fuel. I produced biodiesel out of 5 different oils then burnt it and calculated its energy output.
