Biographie
I am a 14-year-old Grade 9 student at Herzliah High School in Montreal, Canada. I have a deep-rooted interest in the human body, how it functions and the many challenges it faces. My desire in helping and caring for others is what draws me to pursue my studies in health sciences. This year, my project is about reprogramming skin cells into bone marrow for patients suffering from various blood diseases. My search for a possible cure began when a nation-wide search for a bone marrow transplant was conducted: a five-year-old Montrealer with leukemia was in desperate need of new bone marrow. I am grateful to Dr. Sonenberg and Dr. Tahmasebi from the McGill University Goodman Cancer Research Center for their continuous mentoring and support. On my free time, I enjoy swimming and performing magic tricks. I compete on my school swim team and I made it to the finals. I was also awarded the most improved player (MIP) award on my team last year. I have a burning desire to become a doctor one day. I hope that my perseverance and drive will help make this world a better and healthier place. Now that’s magic!
