| Detection of Antibiotic Resistant E. coli in Retail Meat
Challenge: | Health | Category: | Intermediate | Region: | | City: | , | School: | | Abstract: | Antibiotic resistant bacteria from animal origin represent potential health hazards. Agricultural practices of using antibiotics in livestock may increase prevalence of antibiotic resistant bacteria/genes. This study confirmed the presence of E.coli in retail ground meat, and antimicrobial resistance of the strains isolated. It is important because the emergence and increase of antimicrobial resistant E.coli as in other bacteria is limiting treatment options and antibiotic cures. |
