Biographie
My name is Derek Churchill and I attend Massey Secondary School in Windsor, Ontario. I am in grade nine. My favourite subjects are science, and math. I enjoy music very much, and I play the piano. My interests include spending time with family and friends, swimming, karate, and video games. I love science and participated in the Windsor Regional Science Fair in grade seven and eight where I was very successful. This year will be my second time at the Canada Wide Science Fair, and I hope to have as much fun as I did last year. This year I’m doing a continuation from last year’s project Busy Biomonitors.

Sommaire:Cyanobacteria and Fuller's Earth were used alone and in combination as water treatment methods to lower contaminant levels in Windsor's Grand Marais Drain. Daphnia magna were used to determine if harmful cyanobacterial products were introduced from these treatments by monitoring the Daphnia’s fecundity. Synechocystis nigrescens proved to be the most effective in removing contaminants, and had no adverse affects on Daphnia magna.
