Biographie
My name is Saleen Shivji and I am a Grade 9 student at Aurora Charter School in Edmonton, Alberta. Being able to participate in CWSF will be amazing and I am looking forward to meeting new peers and sharing in the experience. I began participating in the science fair in Grade 7. It was mandatory to enter at my school but I really enjoyed learning so much about my own experiments as well as those of my classmates, I continued to participate. This year my science fair project inspiration came from my father. I really wanted to do a science experiment on preservatives and when I couldn’t find a topic that was suitable, my father suggested the idea of water analysis. As much as I enjoy school, I have many hobbies outside of school, some of which include: swimming, playing guitar, reading, and playing basketball. I love spending time with my friends and family. For 3 years I have being training to become a summer camp counselor for a local community camp. I love working with children, because I think I instantly connect with them. I would like to pursue a career in medicine, with a specialization in cardiology.

Sommaire:My experiment, Water Works, was on water analysis and germination. I tested three types of water; city water, rainwater and Pure Life® bottled water. I was also curious about the effects of denaturing the water by boiling it first. I tested the water samples by feeding wheat grass seeds. I collected the data and compared the results.
