Biographie
I am in grade 7 and I am 12 years old. I am a Highland dancer and I play the cello. I am a member of Kamloops 1st Couteau Scouts and I enjoy camping, hiking, swimming and kayaking. My favorite winter sports are curling and downhill skiing. I like to do any type of crafts including quilting. My favorite thing to do is read. I am a member of the Big Little Science Centre in Kamloops and have done the 3-D print club and Lego Robots camp there. I have participated in regional science fair for 3 years and this is my first CWSF. I got the idea after seeing my Mom sorting out our expired sunscreens, and I wanted to know if we could still use them. I learned a lot about sunscreen from doing this project and some of my results surprised me.

Don't Get Burned: An Analysis of Sunscreen
Défi:Santé
Catégorie:Junior
Région:Cariboo Mainline
Ville:Kamloops, BC
École:McGowan Park Elementary
Sommaire:It is important to apply sunscreen to protect our skin from damage and increased risk of skin cancer. The experiments I did compared new and expired sunscreens of the same brand and sun protection factor (SPF) to see how well they blocked ultraviolet (UV) light, and compared how much UV light was blocked by different brands of new sunscreen with the same SPF.
