Abstract:I’ve noticed that plastic sport water bottles have a strange taste. I conducted an experiment determining which type of plastic releases the most chemicals into water based on a measurement of taste. Using 18 test subjects to taste water from plastic types 1, 2, 4, and 5 containers and glass as a control, I found that types 2 and 4 had the strongest taste.
