Biography
Holly Philbrick is in grade 12 at Laura Secord Secondary School in St. Catharines, Ontario. While very involved in extracurricular activities, Holly has managed to keep a very high academic average through hard work in various courses, math and science being a specialty. Some of these extracurricular activities include orchestra, sting ensemble, and many choirs. Holly is a prefect at her school as well as a mentor to younger students. In her free time, Holly volunteers at the St. Catharines General Hospital assisting patients and families who are having trouble in difficult times. She also has a passion for music and plays many instruments including piano, violin, guitar, and trombone. For post- secondary education, she plans on taking medical or chemical related sciences leading up to either earning a PhD, MD or, if she’s feeling extra ambitious, both.

Clarifying the Function of Vitamin E

Abstract:Recently, vitamin E has shown to possibly be involved in gene expression in addition to its antioxidant properties. A new molecule was synthesized that mimics vitamin E but with no antioxidant properties. It is hypothisezed that this sacrifice of vitamin E's antioxidant properties will stop its ability to effect the expression of certain genes.
