| Zexi Wang Gene Expression in Sinorhizobium meliloti Affected by Plant Exudate
Division: | Biotechnology | Category: | Senior | Region: | Manitoba Schools Science Symposium | City: | Winnipeg, MB | School: | Manitoba Schools Science Symposium | Abstract: | The genes ilvD5, leuC and carA in Sinorhizobium meliloti are induced in the presence of plant exudates; therefore they are thought to be important to the competition process occurring between different strains of Rhizobium, prior to nodulation. IlvD5 functions in arabinose catabolism; leuC functions in leucine synthesis; and carA functions in pyrimidine and arginine synthesis. |
