Biographie
My name is Liana Biktimirova, and I am a grade seven student at Ridley College in St. Catharines, Ontario. I like to read, to learn new things, and to play with my pets. In our house we have a big dog, three cute cats, and six aquariums with tropical fish. I also enjoy participating in various sports. For example, I am a ranked junior tennis player in Ontario, and last year I was a member of the championship winning basketball team. When I do not play sports, I like to draw and to play the piano. I got inspiration for my science fair project while observing my father testing water in tropical fish aquariums. I thought that it would be interesting to test parameters of water from different sources, such as lake, sea, and rain. In the future I would like to extend my project by collecting rain water over several months and examining changes in water parameters. The advice I would give to other students thinking about a doing a project is: choose what you love. If you aren't passionate about a project, your experience won't be as enjoyable and rewarding as it was for me.

Are Two Drops of Water Alike?
Défi:Environnement
Catégorie:Junior
Région:Niagara
Ville:St. Catharines, ON
École:Ridley College
Sommaire:People seem to assume that nothing can be more alike than two drops of water. This project examines this common belief by analyzing differences in parameters, such as pH level, hardness, and ammonia, among water collected from various sources, including a lake, a sea, and rain. The results of this project show that few things are more different than two drops of water.
